Ginger
On 1-10-09 my best friend was at the horse sale "buying tack" when she saw the skinniest horse she had seen in a long time. I was at work and my phone rang "Amy this filly is in bad shape, she needs you" "Go ahead and bid on her and I'll take care of it" is all I could say, if she needed me she needed me, that is just how it is. About an hour later my phone rang again, "you will have 2 in the trailer"... there was a young gelding that was going to go to slaughter because no one was bidding on him so she had to bid on him as well. They were both so scared and helpless, they got here and were just so happy to have a round bale and water, when the grain came out they were beside themselves. They are both very sweet. We named the filly Ginger and the gelding Fred. Please check back to check on their progress.
Ginger is coming along very well, she is learning to trust again and she is gaining weight. She had her first bath today, Feb 7th, she did great. She has had a rough road but she has such a kind eye. We will continue to work with her and love her, please check back for more updates on Ginger.
5-16-09 Update- Ginger has made huge strides. She had a thorn in her face when she came to the ranch, it was not visible so we missed it. It began to fester and we rushed her to the vet. He removed it and placed a drain, she has a small scar and some scar tissue, but she is still beautiful. She has gained weight wonderfully, she is much better with her ground manners. She leads, ties and trailers. She is getting better with her baths and was good for her hoof trimming. She is ready for her new home. She will need someone that has experience with abused horses and be willing to take the time and have the patience to continue gaining her trust. She is such a sweet heart once you get to know her.
6-19-09 Update. Ginger is doing wonderfully. You can walk right up to her in the field, she has been in the round pen and took the saddle great. She still needs more training but she will make someone a wonderful horse.
Her adoption fee is $250
