Sandy

Sandy has a complicated and heart breaking story. She came here a little unsure at first and quickly realized she liked it here. She is so sweet, she wants to be loved on constantly. It was hard for me to get good pictures because I couldn't get her away from me. She has a corneal ulcer on her right eye, we put some antibiotic ointment in it and put a fly mask on her. Shortly after that we noticed she had a droop to her right upper lip, we had never seen that before, so we took some pictures and started searching the internet, what we found broke our hearts. She has Horner's Syndrom. It is a type of nervous system disorder that causes paralysis on one side of the face, the eye ulcer is a result of her not being able to blink and hydrate the eye. Unfortunately the outlook is not good, many horses with this condition do not make it, the vet said she will learn to adapt and we will just have to wait and see how she progresses, you never know, sometimes a horses will to live in superordinary circumstances will amaze us all. Please say a prayer for Sandy as we go through this journey with her.

If anyone would like to donate to Sandy's medical care that would be greatly appreciated. I don't know how long she will be with us, but I hope to make those days as good as they possibly can be.
